More hearing from the inside

Rupert’s sense of hearing is extraordinarily acute. We can see in Through a Portal to the Mind, a film I made, just how fine anyone’s hearing is.

In the following clip, we see how hearing solves the challenge of dividing up the sound along the basilar membrane and uses repeating cells along the those divisions to create the basis of recognizing patterns.
